Once again CPRF and Zyuganov suggest to vote non-confidence for the government. They substantiate this request with ten critical arguments, that are for the most part quite plausible. Nevertheless, according to Zyuganov’s explanations the whole campaign has been initiated in order to sack on the grounds of non-confidence the government of Medvedev, whereas people’s confidence should be apparently granted to Capitalism, the Capitalism that according to Zyganov can be socially oriented, nationally responsible and, in general, quite good and almost popular, provided there is created a so called government of people’s trust. In opinion of CPRF such government should implement the program of anti-crisis measures of their party.
Such tactics represent an example of classic opportunism turning into an open defection. Such occurrence is well known from the experience of communist and workers’ movement, was long ago condemned and assessed as theoretical and political defection to the side of the class enemy. The bourgeois Socialism was described as early as in the Manifesto of Communist Party: “the Socialistic bourgeois want all the advantages of modern social conditions but without the struggles and dangers necessarily resulting therefrom” … and that Proletariat “ should cast away all its hateful ideas concerning the bourgeoisie…” .
Basically CPRF once again rushes for the rescue of bourgeois social order in its critical moment. Their demands to oust the government are not the main issue. To change persons in power in order to retain the old course and the system itself is an old trick by bourgeoisie. We can recall the whole list of prime ministers who used to hold the office in the period of Russian Capitalism’s formation: Ivan Silaev-Egor Gaidar-Viktor Chernomyrdin-Sergey Kirienko-Evgeny Primakov-Sergei Stepashin-Vladimir Putin-Mikhail Kasyanov-Mikhail Fradkov-Viktor Zubkov-Vladimir Putin again-Dmitry Medvedev. What now? We can see that the prime ministers were changed a number of times, whereas CPRF demanded on dozens of occasions, I would even say permanently – a dismissal of certain ministers (eg. Zurabov, Kirienko, Livanov) or even of the premier ministers (Gaidar, Kirienko, Medvedev).
The matter is that in the times of crises CPRF comes to the rescue of the Capitalist system itself . This would be the third time in the modern history of Russia:
- As if it wasn’t enough that in 1993 in the gloomy days of the October coup Zyuganov called upon Soviet people to sit at home and not to intervene into the massacre of the Supreme Soviet and of the Soviet Constitution’s defenders, and that he asked them over TV in a cowardly manner not to come out to the traditional demonstration to commemorate the Great October Revolution - after the shooting down of the Supreme Soviet he also refused the suggestion by other forces of the Communist opposition to boycott the illegal elections. It was exactly CPRF who helped president Eltsyn to give the elections soaked in blood the appearance of legality and democracy, as well as to actually ensure the presence of voters at the referendum on the new Constitution that secured the results of the bourgeois coup d’etat .
- In 1998 the local currency, ruble was devalued fourfold by the government headed by Kyrienko. The young prime minister was appointed the culpprit together with his “young reformers”. To come out of the crisis Eltsyn and Zyganov called for the assistance of the “people’s trust government” headed by Evgeny Primakov and the member of CPRF Yury Maslyukov. This government covered with the devalued rubles multibillion salary debts, thus bringing down the wave of the working people’s protests. Devaluation of the local currency somewhat boosted Russian economy. On resolving the immediate problems of the authorities by means of robbing working people, the government was sacked by Eltsyn. Primakov was replaced by the interior affairs minister Stepashin, who was replaced by Putin in several months. The complicated scheme to rescue Capitalism was carried out with the direct participation of CPRF.
Nowadays Zyuganov and CPRF once again urge us to save Capitalism. In his speech Zyganov presents his arguments as if defending Putin: “The government should be replaced. It ignores the promises given to the population by the President. It doesn’t implement the decrees by the President regarding the modernization of the economics, the creation of new working places for highly qualified specialists, the solution of social problems and renovation of the military industrial complex”.
The fact that Zyganov believes in a good Capitalism is not something new or unexpected. He always blamed the “barbaric privatization” carried out by Gaidar for the disastrous situation in Russia, while recalling that in Gorbachev’s CC of CPSU there had been developed a correct variant of honest privatization presuming personal privatization accounts for each citizen of the USSR.
Thus the ambulance for Putin is ready for action. It’s quite possible that this initiative will have a success, as it could be beneficial for Putin to shift the blame onto the unpopular premier Medvedev (let’s remember the case of Kyrienko) and give the stirring wheel to the friends of the people for a while. Such left-to-center politicians, champions of coalition governments, promoters of the ideas of national consensus and other physicians for Capitalism have many times proved to be assistants of bourgeoisie in Europe and in the world. V.I. Lenin stressed that in the moments of crisis opportunists try to alleviate the situation and to resolve conflicts, whereas the revolutionary Marxists do their best to develop the struggle, to reveal contradictions and to discover the causes of the crisis in order to use them to fight Capitalism.
Zyganov and his team claim: “We don’t want political crisis. We offer the only possible way to avoid it, to save the country from collapse and to carry out those changes that are indeed required by Russia.
In fact here they urge us to confide Capitalism, to save it. We are not going to take part in this. Communists advocate for the development of the working people’s struggle against the Capitalist system itself.
